Sergeant Edward Bucklow

Battalion: 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Edward and Lucy Easthorpe Bucklow, of 88, Gordon Road, Nottingham. He was an apprentice joiner prior to enlisting on 3rd September 1912 at Nottingham. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 23rd August 1915 and went to France on 28th February 1916. He was promoted to Sergeant, on 11th April 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
