Lance Corporal Arthur Buckley

Battalion: 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Isaac and Betsy Buckley, of 1, Meadow Road, Netherfield, Nottingham. He was a platelayer for the Great Northern Railway prior to enlisting 10th December 1915 at Carlton, Nottinghamshire into the 5th Reserve Battalion. He was posted 1/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd May 1917 and went to France 3rd May 1917. He was posted 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 29th May 1917 and was appointed Lance Corporal 30th August 1917. He suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen, 27th September 1917 and was treated at No. 4 Casualty Clearing Station Lozingham, Belgium and died of these wounds on 29th September 1917, age 25.
