Born at Bulwell, Nottingham and lived at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of John Thomas and Annie Maria Buckland, of 39, Northcote Street, Bulwell. Husband of Eliza Buckland. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 2nd November 1916. by German shellfire while serving in the trenches near Arras, France.
