British War and Victory MedalBorn at Woking, Surrey.  Son of Albert and Kezia Browning, of 3 Newark Road, Ripley, Surrey. He was a gardener prior to enlisting 9th May 1916 at Guildford, Surrey. He went to France 31st May 1917 and suffered gunshot wounds to his left buttock, 6th August 1917. He was admitted to 3rd General Hospital, Le Treport, France and transferred to England, on Hospital Ship St. Andrew, 10th August 1917. He returned to France 24th March 1918 and was transferred to the 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st April 1918. He suffered gunshot wounds to his chest, 2nd October 1918  and died of wounds, 3rd October 1918, at No. 53 Casualty Clearing Station, Tincourt, France.
