Second Lieutenant Montague Bernard Browne

Battalion : 2/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Reverend S. B and Mary Browne, of Rutland House, Collingham, Nottinghamshire. Lived at Plumtree and Collingham, Nottinghamshire. He was educated at Harrow Public School and first enlisted as a private in the 2/8th Sherwood Foresters after the outbreak of war in 1914. He received a commission as 2nd lieutenant in July 1915 and died of wounds received when attempting to cross Mount Street Bridge, Dublin, to attack Clanwilliam House during the Irish Rebellion 30th April 1916, aged 39.
