Battalion: 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Sneinton, Nottingham and lived at Newport, Isle of White. Husband of Martha Brown. He enlisted at Ripley, Derbyshire and went to France on 28th November 1914 (1st or 2nd Battalion) He was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
