Born and lived at Sherwood, Nottingham. Son of William and Emily Brown, of 17A, Marshall Street, Sherwood, Nottingham. He was in the motor trade prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, on 8th July 1916, aged 21, whilst in the line near Givenchy, France.

Buried : Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-l’Avoue, France. Plot 3, Row J, Grave 21.
