British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Bedworth, Warwickshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and was killed in action, 12th December 1917, by German shellfire during a heavy barrage, whilst serving in the trenches near St. Laurent, France.
