Private William Brown

Army Number: 28216 (formerly 39176 Machine Gun Corps)

Battalion: 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Bedworth, Warwickshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and was killed in action, 12th December 1917, by German shellfire during a heavy barrage, whilst serving in the trenches near St. Laurent, France.
