Son of Charles and Mary Anne Brown, of 6, Victoria Terrace, Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Husband of Mary E. Brown. He was lace hand prior to enlisting on 10th February 1908 at Southwell. He went to France on 8th September 1914 and was killed in action, 13th September 1916, aged 26, during the attack at Arrow Head Copse near Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme.
