Born at Bowness on Solway, Cumbria. Son of Joseph Faulder Brown and Isabella Brown, of Pasture House, Bowness. He enlisted on 11th January 1915 at Hexham, Northumberland into the Northumberland Fusiliers. He was transferred to the 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 23rd March 1916 and went to France on 4th September 1916. He was killed in action, on 1st July 1917, aged 22 in the attack on the German line to the west of Lens, France.
