Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born in Mexborough, Yorkshire. Son of William Henry Brown of The Horseshoes, Sleaford, Lincolnshire. He was a groom at Thoresby Hall, Ollerton, Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting 27th August 1914 at Worksop. He served at Gallipoli in 1915 and went to France on 28th June 1916. He was killed in action, 26th September 1916, whilst serving in the trenches near Ovillers, France during the Battle of the Somme.
