Born at Nottingham and lived at 3, Alma Terrace, Basford, Nottingham. Husband of Mary Alice Brown. He was a lacemaker prior to enlisting on 11th December 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th August 1916 and was killed in action, 31st October 1916, whilst the battalion was at F camp near Montauban, France during the Battle of the Somme.
