Born at Pinxton, Derbyshire and lived at Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. Son of Thomas and Fanny Brown, of 22, Bishop Street, Melton Mowbray; Husband of Edith Augusta Brown, of 4, School Gardens, Norman Street, Melton Mowbray. He was a railway clerk prior to enlisting at Nottingham.  He was Killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 28, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
