Private Herbert Brown

Battalion : 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Fred and Laura Brown, of 37 Camden Street, Derby. He was a dyer’s labourer prior to enlisting on 17th November 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 8th July 1916 and suffered gunshot wounds to his right shoulder on 8th August 1916. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship St. George, 14th August 1916. He returned to France on 2nd May 1917 and was admitted to No. 32 Casualty Clearing Station at Brandhoek, Belgium, on 26th September 1917 suffering gunshot wounds to his face. He was transferred to 59 General Hospital St. Omer, France, 27th September 1917. He rejoined his battalion, 5th November 1917. He was killed in action, 16th April 1918.
