British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Rochdale,e. Son of Mark and Mary Elizabeth Brown, of 30, Macmillan Street, Rochdale. He was a cotton ring jobber prior to enlisting on 2nd March 1916 at Rochdale.  He went to France on 30th March 1918 and was killed in action, 27th May 1918, age 19, whilst the Battalion was ordered forward to the Aisne line. Then in retiring fight to Montagne de Guyencourt, France.
