British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at West Butterwick, Lincolnshire. Son of Charles and Sarah Ann Brown, of Owston Ferry, Lincolnshire; Husband of Florence Brown, of 8, Brewery Terrace, Wath-On-Dearne, Yorkshire. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Hepworth, Lincolnshire. He served in Gallipoli with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, during 1915 was later transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action, 15th May 1917, age 22, in the attack near Les Trois Sauvage, France.
