British War and Victory MedalBorn at Wigginton, Tring, Hertfordshire and lived at Chesham, Buckinghamshire. Son of Charles and Christiana Brown, of Chesham Road, Wigginton, Tring, Hertfordshire. Husband of Sarah Brown, of Ivy Cottage, High Street, Handcross, Sussex. He was a motor driver prior to enlisting, 3rd December 1915, at Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire into the 11th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment. He was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 15th January 1917 and went to France on 13th September 1917.  He was posted to the 2/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 21st December 1917 and was killed in action, 2nd December 1917, age 26, during a German attack on the positions near La Bacquerie, France.
