British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Holloway near Matlock, Derbyshire. Son of Albert William and Hannah Brown, of Holloway. He was a hosiery warehouseman at J Smedley Ltd. Lea Mills, Derbyshire, prior to enlisting 2nd September 1916 at Lea Mills. He went to France on 4th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 17th April 1916, aged 19, whilst serving in the line near Acq, France.
