Born in Nottingham and lived at Milk Street, Nottingham. Son of Charles and Annie Brown, of 24, Apple Yard, Old Street, Nottingham. He was a stripper in the lace trade prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 2nd March 1917, aged 19, whilst in the line near Chilly, France.
