Born at Heanor, Derbyshire and lived at 22 Alfreton Road, South Normanton, Derbyshire. Son of John Brown of 8 Kings Street, South Normanton, Derbyshire. Enlisted 27th February 1915 at Alfreton, went to France 10th December 1915 and was killed in action,  25th March 1916, when the Germans exploded a mine then attacked the front line trenches at Berlincourt, France. 

Buried : Ecoivres Military Cemetery, Mont-St. Eloi, France. Plot I, Row C, Grave 2.
