Born at Pilsely, Derbyshire and lived at Tibshelf, Derbyshire. Son of William H. and Ada Brown, of High Street, Tibshelf, Derbyshire. He was a butcher prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was attached to the 46th Heavy Trench Mortar battery and was killed in action 22nd July 1917, aged 25.
