Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born in Newark, Nottinghamshire and lived at 141, Thrumpton Lane, Retford, Nottinghamshire. Son of Edward and Mary Ann Broughton, of 14, George Street, Retford. He was a plater at Mssrs Jenkins and Son, Retford prior to enlisting 7th May 1913 at Retford. he went to France 18th August 1915 and was killed in action, 15th October 1915,  during the operations at the Hohenzollern Redoubt, France.
