Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Retford, Nottinghamshire. Son of Benjamin and Annie Broughton, of Strawberry Villa, Newtown, Retford. He was a clerk in the office of Messrs. J. W. Jenkins and Co. Ltd., Beehive Engineering Works, Retford, prior to enlisting at Derby in September 1914. He went to France on 14th July 1915 and was killed in action, on 31st October 1916, aged 23, during the German shelling of Larkhill Trench, near Gueudecourt during the Battle of the Somme.
