British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived in Bradford, Yorkshire. Son of Henry and Catherine Broom, of 40, Coleman Street, Bradford. Husband of Ethel Broom, of 39 Bunkers Hill, Bradford. He was a driver prior to enlisting 5th September 1914 at Bradford. He was appointed Lance Corporal, 31st October 1914 and promoted Sergeant, 31st December 1915, went to France 2nd January 1916 and was killed in action, 12th August 1916,  whilst in the line near Longueval and Montauban, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
