Born and lived at Ockbrook, Derbyshire. Son of George and Emily Brooks, of Yew Tree Cottage, Ockbrook. He was an accounts clerk for midland railway prior to enlisting at Derby.  He went to France on 18th March 1915 and died of wounds, on 13th July 1916,  at Tooting Military Hospital, London.
