Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Rothley, Leicestershire. Son of Arthur Edward and Margaret Elizabeth Brooks, of West View, Rothley Lane, Mountsorrel, Loughborough, Leicestershire. He was a Student Teacher prior to enlisting 9th April 1917 at Loughborough. He was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 24th November 1917. He went to France 31st March 1918 and was posted to the 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 14th June 1918. He was killed in action, 12th July 1918, age 19, by German shellfire whilst serving in the line near Essarts, France.
