Captain Sydney Freeman Brookfield

Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Sydney and Susan Thorne Brookfield, of 67 Hale Road, Hale, Cheshire.  He was a bank clerk prior to enlisting. He was promoted Captain and posted to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd November 1915. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, in the attack on the German lines near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Batlle of the Somme.
