British War and Victory MedalSon of John William and Mary Jane Brompton, of 41, Grove Street, New Balderton, Nottinghamshire. He was a fireman prior to enlisting on 20th May 1916 at Newark, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 8th June 1916 and was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st April 1918. He was wounded in action, 24th May 1918 and died of these wounds, 26th May 1918, aged 20.
