Born at Broughton, Lancashire. Son of Thomas and Ada Jane Brogden, of 14 Duke Street, St. Helens; Greater Manchester. He was an errand boy prior to enlisting on 19th November 1910 at Derby. He went to France on 7th February 1915 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915 during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
