Husband of Louisa Bristow, of Rose Cottage, Cookham Dean, Berkshire. He was a baker prior to enlisting 28th April 1915 at Reading. He was posted to the 23rd Field Bakery and went to France 24th August 1915. He was transferred to No.12 Field Bakery, 2nd February 1917 and awarded the Good Conduct Badge 6th August 1917. He was transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys), Regiment 15th October 1917, appointed Lance Corporal 1st May 1918 and was killed in action, 27th May 1918, whilst battalion was in a retiring fight to Montagne De Guyancourt, France.
