Private George Bright

Army Number : 208200 (formerly 238900 Hereford Regiment)

Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Page and Margaret Bright, of Carreg Frain, Beguildy, Knighton, Radnorshire. He was a farm servant prior to enlisting 22nd January 1917, at Knighton. He went to France 23rd July 1917 and was posted to the 7th Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, 24th July 1917. He suffered gunshot wounds to his hands, legs, face and arms, 24th August 1917. He was admitted to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, France and transferred to England on Hospital Ship Essequibo, 30th August 1917. He returned to France 31st March 1918 and was posted to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 9th April 1918. He was killed in action, 1st October 1918, aged 20, during the attack near Vlamertinghe, Belgium.
