Private John Briggs

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Ludford, Lincolnshire. Son of George and Mary Briggs, of 5, Eastfield Road, Louth, Lincolnshire. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Horncastle, Lincolnshire. He was killed in action, 31st July 1917, age 23, in the attack at Bellewaarde Lake, near Ypres, Belgium.

His brother Private Charles Briggs, 3rd Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment, also fell in the Great War.
