Born and lived at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph and Emma Briggs, of 11 May Street, Ilkeston. He enlisted at Ilkeston and was killed in action, 19th September 1918, aged 19, in the attack at the Quadrilateral near Holnon village.
