Born and lived at Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. Son of Joseph and Mary Squire, of 6 Mount Street, Ashton-under-Lyne. He was a cotton spinner prior to enlisting at Ashton-under-Lyne. Killed in action, 23rd August 1916, whilst serving in Maltz Horn Trench, near Guillemont, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
