British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Cossall, Nottinghamshire. and lived at Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Son of  Samuel and Elizabeth Brewer, of 31, Bramcote Road, Beeston. He was a threader prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to  France on 14th July 1915 and was awarded the D.C.M. (Distinguished Conduct Medal) London Gazette on 30th March 1916. For conspicuous gallantry during operations on 2nd March 1916  When with a party bringing up supplies to the front line under heavy shell fire his serjeant was killed, but he took charge, got the supplies through, and then remained to tend his wounded comrades. He was killed in action, 7th August 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Delville Wood, France during the Battle of the Somme.
