Born and lived in Leeds, Yorkshire. Son of George and Mary Elizabeth Bray, of 16, Albury Road, Hunslet, Yorkshire. He was a glass bottle packer prior to enlisting into the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 29th May 1917 at Leeds. He went to France on 27th June 1918 and was posted to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 6th August 1918 and was killed in action, 28th October 1918, Sweveghem, Belgium.
