Born and lived at Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire. Son of Walter and Ellen Branford, of High Street, Edwinstowe. He was a baker prior to enlisting on 12th January 1915 at Newark, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 25th February 1915 with the 44th Field Field Bakery, Army Service Corps. He was awarded the Good Conduct Badge, 23rd January 1917 and was transferred to the Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 23rd October 1917. He died, 27th October 1918.
