Corporal George Brain

Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Banbury, Oxfordshire. and lived at Tollerton, Nottinghamshire. Son of John and Sarah Brain, of Kirtlington, Oxfordshire. Husband of Sarah Jane Brain, of Tollerton. He was a gardener prior to enlisting at Newark, Nottinghamshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was later transferred to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action, 22nd March 1918, during the German spring offensive near Hermies, France.
