Born at Nantwich, Cheshire. Husband of Harriet Bragg, of Rose Cottage, Harlaston, Tamworth, Staffordshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 15th October 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 13th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 31, during the attack at Gommecourt, France during the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
