Born at Longton, Staffordshire and lived at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Benjamin and Eliza Bradshaw; Husband of Eliza Ann Bradshaw. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield into the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and served in Gallipoli during 1915. He was later transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and died 16th September 1916, in the attack at Guillemont during the Battle of the Somme, France,
