British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn and lived at Mayfield, Staffordshire. Son of Henry James and Alice Bradley, of Wall Ash, Mayfield. He was a labourer prior to enlisting 6th March 1913 at Ashbourne, Derbyshire. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 30th September 1915, age 18, when the Germans exploded a mine under the trenches at Spoil Bank, near Ypres, Belgium.
