Born at Alfreton, Derbyshire. Son of William and Mary Bradford, of Gladstone Terrace, Alfreton. He was a bricklayer prior to enlisting at Alfreton, on 10th December 1915. and died 5th May 1916, age 19, of wounds received in action on 26/27th April 1916, whilst fighting in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission shows Christian name as James.

Buried: Kilmainham (Royal Hospital) Cemetery, Republic of Ireland. Other Ranks Ground.
