Born at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire and lived at 60 Byron Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of George and Hannah Bowskill. Husband of Lucy Bowskill, of 7, Hampden Street, Kirkby-In-Ashfield. He was a coal miner at Summit Colliery, Kirkby-in-Ashfield prior to enlisting 17th October 1914 at Newark, Nottinghamshire. He went to France 25th June 1915 and was killed in action, 22nd July 1915, aged 23, by German shellfire near Sanctuary Wood, near Ypres, Belgium.
