Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Whittington, Derbyshire. Son of Henry and Hannah Bowman, of 2, Holland Road, Whittington, Derbyshire. Husband of Emmie Hollis (formerly Bowman), of 32, Arkwright Town, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He was killed in action, 30th July 1917, age 41, during the attack at Steenbeeke, near Ypres, Belgium.
