He was born at Stockport. Son of George and Jane Bowes, of 10, Orphanage Street, Lancashire Hill, Stockport, Cheshire. Husband of Sarah Bowes, of Slack Houses, Cressbrook, Buxton, Derbyshire. He was a cotton doubler prior to enlisting 30th October 1914. He was discharged due to sickness, 8th June 1916. He died 31st January 1919, aged 40.
