Private William Bowers

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Son of Thomas and Annie Bowers, of 31, South Street, Alderley Edge, Cheshire. He was a warehouseman prior to enlisting 30th October 1915 at Manchester. He went to France 28th June 1916 and was admitted to hospital at Wimereaux, France suffering from trench fever, 13th September 1917. He was transferred to England 23rd September 1917 and returned to France 30th March 1918. He was transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 4th April 1918, and was killed in action, 22nd April 1918, age 21, whilst serving in the trenches near Villers Brettoneaux, France.
