Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Duffield, Derbyshire and lived at Belper, Derbyshire. Son of Frank and Maria Elizabeth Bower, of Dalley Lane, Belper, Derbyshire. He was a forester prior to enlisting at Derby. He was killed in action, 17th October 1916, age 24, whilst serving in the line near Martinsart Wood, France during the Battle of the Somme.

Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
