He lived at Norwich, Norfolk. Son of James Garton Bower and Helen Brook Bower of Earlham House, Norwich. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant into the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 25th October 1915. He went to France 1st April 1916 and was promoted Lieutenant 7th December 1916. He was killed in action, 13th September 1917. aged 26, in the attack at Zillebeke, near Ypres, Belgium.
