British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalSon of Joseph and Emma Bowen, of 2 Stanhope Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Husband of Maria Bowen, of Lord Haddon Road, Ilkeston. He was an ironworks labourer prior to enlisting 13th October 1914 at Ilkeston. He went to France 6th March 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his shoulder, 16th April 1915. He was treated at 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, France before being transferred to England 17th April 1915. He returned to France 14th November 1915 and was killed in action, 16th September 1917, in the attack near Zillebeke, near Ypres, Belgium.
