British War and Victory MedalBorn at New Mills, Derbyshire. Son of  Samuel and Mary Jane Boyle formerly Bowden), of Wirksmoor House, Hurst Lea Road, Newtown,  Derbyshire. He was a cotton spinner prior to enlisting 6th December 1915 at Buxton, Derbyshire. He went to France 11th July 1916 and was killed in action, 3rd June 1917, age 21, whilst in the line near Lievin, France.
